Philodendron Orange Melanochrysum
The Philodendron Orange Melanochrysum is a rare and highly sought-after form of the classic Philodendron Melanochrysum. Philodendron Orange Melanochrysum, (a.k.a Philodendron Orange Melano), is loved for its dramatic orange, pink, cream to copper toned leaves.
It is truly a remarkable and beautiful plant and my absolute favorite philodendron aside from the Philodendron Micans. These two can sometimes be confused as one another, but rest assured, Philodendron Melanos naturally climb while Philodendron Micans naturally trail.

☀️ Light
- Bright indirect light is ideal
- Higher light encourages stronger orange tones (gentle sun-stressing is key, especially if the plant pushed out cream colored leaves)
- Avoid harsh direct sun—it can scorch the velvet leaves
💧 Water
- Water when the top 1–2 inches of soil are dry
- Do not allow to sit in water—this one hates soggy roots
🌱 Soil
-
Chunky, well-draining aroid mix
- Orchid bark
- Perlite or pumice
- Coco chips
- A bit of charcoal
🌫️ Humidity & Temperature
- Prefers 60–80% humidity
- Warm temps (65–85°F)
- Growth and leaf size explode with a moss pole + humidity
🌸 Growth Tips
- Fertilize regularly
- Give it something to climb for larger, more dramatic leaves
- Stable conditions = better color retention
- New leaves harden off slowly—be patient, the velvet payoff is worth it
